Solar cells can be printed either onto a wide array of materials including aluminum, plastic, cloth and paper. The solar cell “ink” is composed of Copper, Indium, Gallium and Selenium. The ink and printed solar cell can be manufactured at a very low cost. This printing process uses vapors at temperatures of less than 120 degrees Celsius. These cells won’t lose their functionality even when the material is folded, unfolded and then refolded into any shape. ( A sheet of PET plastic was folded and unfolded a thousand times with no significant loss in performance. )
