Smear campaigns are negative ads and propaganda that is designed to make a politician or candidate look horrible in the public eye. This type of thing is typically done during a campaign trial up until election day, after which it usually stops. This can include messages that talk about a person’s past and present actions that when revealed are supposed to make voters despise the candidate, and ultimately not vote for him or her. The current presidential race is employing many of these negative ads to influence public opinion. Unfortunately, most of these ads are full of white lies and distortions of information that can be pulled out of context to fit the agenda of the person who released the ad.
