Items purchases on the internet are usually shipped together, in a group. In that case, the amount of fuel necessary for the delivery of the items would theoretically be less if the item was purchased online, rather than everyone who had an item in the delivery truck driving to buy the item themselves.
Also, “brick and mortar” shops are generally bigger, require more maintenence and upkeep, and probably use more electricity than a simple warehouse full of items.
