There are two main ways shipping harms the environment: waste made in preparing/wrapping packages and the CO2 produced in transporting those packages. Shipping can be made more eco-friendly by using biodegradable packing materials instead of the plastics like bubble wrap or polyethylene packing tape that currently clog our landfills. Commercial shipping, particularly of produce, can be made more efficient by importing products locally; for example, getting your oranges from Florida instead of Brazil. This reduces CO2 required for transport.
