using notebook paper for science experiment. trying to find out what can be used besides water
Tryting using anything with an altered pH ( citrus juices, vinegar). I’d also give substances with working bacteria cultures in them such as yogurt, kefir and kombucha.
You can also bury a sheet of recycled paper and a sheet of new paer in dirt.
The recycled paper and the new paper should decompose at around the same time, actually.
It is possible that there is a small difference, due to the fibers in recycled paper being shorter and thinner, but if so, the difference is negligible.
If you want paper to degrade faster, then make sure it is shredded before it goes to the landfill.
