There are many ways in which women an avoid exposure to toxins during pregnancy. One major way is by buying and eating only organic foods to avoid the ingestion of pesticides and other chemicals.
Whenever possible, try to minimize your use of:
Processed food items, such as hot dogs
Foods containing sodium nitrate, such as cured meats like ham or bacon. These substances may be carcinogenic (cancer-causing).
Avoid eating raw fish, such as sushi and ceviche, meats or eggs. Of course as most people know avoid smoking, drinking alcohol and caffeine.
