Well, you can save it for another meal. Certain food can be put in compost bins as well – basically anything plant-based will work, but you’d want to stay away from meat. For larger organizations, there might be a local food bank that you can donate to. The cafe I used to work at donated their leftover pastries and other items to Food for Lane County who distributed the food to other social organizations benefitting low-income residents in the county.
Reuse the ingredients for other meals. Some homeless shelters or animal shelters will take certain foods as well. A compost pile would also be a great idea.
