How can I tell if a trout I catch was stocked or if it was naturally raised?

There doesn’t seem to be an exact science to it, but it apparently may be possible to tell the difference between trout that were raised in the wild vs. those raised in a farm and then stocked in a particular place. The amount of fin wear seems to be the most common indicator (farm-raised trout would have more wear from concrete holding pens and the fish nipping at each other).
