One of the first things Obama did once in office was reverse some very un-green “midnight regulations” pushed through by Bush at the end of his 2nd term. Several of these midnight regulations would have had disastrous impact on our environment, such as: allowing more mining permits near the Grand Canyon, no longer requiring independent scientific review to assess impact to endangered species before proceeding with development projects, and allowing animal feed lots to self-regulate their pollution (so if they don’t feel they pollute “too much” they don’t have to apply for discharge permits). While this is only one example of Obama’s commitment to the environment, it says a lot. He refused to let these atrocious regulations go through.
