It depends on the type of competition you would like… As in, would you like to compete against your neighbors to see who can grow the biggest tomato? Or against gardeners in other cities to see who can have the most volunteers committed to growing food in a community oriented environment? etc. I would suggest speaking to your neighbors, other gardeners, etc., to find out what kind of interest you have within your groups and what type of competition you might want to start. Plenty of cities have amazing community garden programs with whom you can collaborate, like the Seattle P-Patch Program. The American Community Gardening Association should be a good reference as well.
