If you own a solar or wind generator installed at your home or business, you may use the energy output at your site to offset your electric bill. At any time your system produces more energy than required to power your home or building, the excess energy may be applied as a credit to future bills. This process is known as net-metering. Different states have different programs which you can use renewable energy to offset your electricity bill.
