How can I make my house 100% energy-neutral?

Going all the way is pretty tough for an existing house. There are two things you have to pay attention to: reducing your existing energy consumption, and using renewables for what you can’t reduce. To reduce energy consumption, you can do things like improve your house’s insulation, buy energy efficiency appliances, and use the air conditioning/heater less. Ask your utility company if you can buy renewables from them; they often have a program where for a little extra money on your energy bill, it will offset the carbon used. Also, look into a personal solar panel to install on your roof to directly provide some of your energy.
