A quick an easy way is to build a box around the generator that can help muffle the noise. Keeping it as clean as possible with regular maintenance will also help from debris build up, will help from the loud clatter noise associated with the generators. Thick wood and if possible metal are great options for sound proofing. In the end an extension cord can allow you to keep the generator at a distance and lower the auditory irritant.
