As soon as you are done eating you can wipe your plate down with moist kitchen rags. This will eliminate the need for a full-on rinse. Keep a pail in your kitchen for rags and throw them in the laundry whenever you are doing a load of towels (depending on the food, you may or may not want them mingling with other foods).
Also, wet the dish, then turn off the water to do your scrubbing. IF you are soaking a pot, you can soak or just wet, bowls, plates, and utensils in it.
