Nanotechnology actually helps to harvest even more solar energy than usual. It helps scientists understand how materials behave, which ultimately helps these materials maximize results while costing less. For example, commercial solar panels are usually about 14% efficient whereas the solar panels undergoing nanotechnology applications in the lab are about three times as efficient at 40% efficiency. This is just one area where nanotechnology thrives but can also be applied to many others.
