Whole Foods Market, a globally running natural foods provider, has developed an impressive method of supporting local communities by committing themselves to local products. Each individual store is committed to providing as much local produce and foodstuffs as possible; “local” in this case meaning within an 8-hour drive of the store.
This not only supports local economies but reduces vehicle emissions usually produced by longer delivery routes.
It really depends on what the company does. If they are a retail store, they can buy locally manufactured or grown goods, hire local advertising firms and employees, and have community involvement.
If they are a manufacturer they can try to locate where the resources are, and try to market the product locally.
