It depends on the temperature of the hot spring. If the temperature is 20 degrees Celsius or lower, fish can easily live in a hot spring. This may be a result of the source being cool or the hot water mixing with cooler water. However, fish are usually not present in hot springs. Most of the hot springs I visit are around 50-60 degrees Celsius, and those springs simply do not have fish. They have plenty of algae, though!
