There are methods to reverse or curb desertification. We can plant more trees in areas beginning to become desert, better farming practices and fence off grazing areas.
It requires some degree of courage to start. Deserts that have water bodies across or around them should have some canals made right into the deserts so as to encourage growth of plants. Seeds on plants that can thrive well using dews can be spread in the deserts while drought resistant species of plants (xerophytes)should be planted more. This does not mean that the whole desert area should be worked upon at once. It rquires a gradual process. A portion can be mapped out yearly depending on how convenience it will be for the agency embarking upon such project.
