How can culinary schools go green?

    Culinary Schools should be at the forefront of schools choosing to go green- here are some suggestions that could benefit not only the environment, but also the school itself and the students who attend.

    1. Purchase only sustainable food products made or grown locally.
    2. Purchase energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs.
    3. Instead of trashing leftover food and odds and ends of foods, start a compost pile and a garden, this could lower the cost of produce!
    4. Install solar panels
    5. Go paperless.  Instead of using a textbook, find an online or PDF version. Students can turn in their homework online instead of on notebook paper.
    6. Start a recycling program and use only recycled paper products.
