On a personal level, CO2 emissions can be reduced by a number of fuel-conserving techniques, from reducing the temperature on your thermostat to driving less. Pre-existing CO2 levels in the atmosphere can be reduced through carbon capture or carbon sequestration, which involve capturing the CO2 in plants or the earth, respectively. Further options include moving the economy to alternative energies and cap-and-trade market controls. The link below expands upon each of these ideas and more.
All plants and trees absorb C02 and turn it into oxygen, so more trees would definitely lower C02 levels–but it would take millions of trees, miles of land, and lots of time to have a global impact.
