How can Big Oil companies become more sustainable?

Your question is unanswerable. Big Oil is,  by definition, unsustainable. Large international corporations that profit from drawing from a finite resource are inherently unsustainable. The oil economy is not a sustainable one. More drastic environmental actions will be taken as we run out of oil, further damaging the environment. For Big Oil to become more sustainable, I suggest they start looking into more sustainable venues of income. These companies cannot, by definition, be sustainable while relying on the extraction of petroleum.
