How can physics be used to go green?

I think largely it already is, Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Circuitry – all have foundations in physics and are greatly contributing to renewable energy creation from photovoltaics, solar heating, geothermal, wind and wave power.

Past that, there the physics of optics is continuously updating the efficiency and action of solar photovoltaic systems. And theoretical work with gravity waves and particles may yield even more entries into its already impressive portfolio.
