How can Australia turn around their carbon emissions?

CSIRO scientists have said that it is possible for Australians to reduce their home and car energy use by up to 50 percent by changing the way they conduct their daily activities. Some of the things they can do include maximizing their homes’ potential for heating and cooling, planting shade trees, driving less, and carpooling. The CSIRO Home Energy Saving Handbook – How to Save Energy, Save Money and Reduce Your Carbon Footprint provides instruction on how to cut back on carbon emissions.

The majority of Australian businesses are planning on investing in technology that will allow them to reduce their carbon emissions. This will also help Australia cut back on emissions.

Also, the government would like to start carbon trading in 2011, which is part of a policy that involves cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 5-15 percent of their 2000 levels by 2020.
