One thing that California is doing is upping its mass transit. They are planning a bullet train for high speed long-distance travel, and cities like LA are getting light rails, increased car-pool lanes, and more efficient bus transport.
California is one of the greenest states in the US. They plan to use 33% of renewable energy by 2020. California also has one of the strictest vehicle emission standards. Also it has one of the biggest solar sector and wind sector in the US. I think that California is a good example to follow, because they’re reducing their fossil fuel usage rapidly and will probably be the fastest to achieve their goal.
