BP’s $20 billion isn’t a clean up fund but an amount set aside to assist the individuals, families and businesses afflicted by the worst oil spill in history. Seven million businesses are expected to suffer from the oil spill and the tarnished reputation of the Gulf region. BP will pay $5 billion of this fund over the next four years, with implements of $1.25 billion paid quarterly until its $20 billion worth of allocations has been paid.
