How big would a meteor have to be to create a lot of damage?

It is estimated that the asteroid that hit the earth and killed the dinosaurs was 9.3 miles (15km) wide. That would be big enough to cause ash and debris to block out the sun and kill most of the worlds plant life (this is a working theory about why the dinosaurs died). If the meteor landed in an ocean, the tsunami’s would radiate out in all directions from the impact and would likely obliterate all coastal cities.

The first link as more information on the topic, the second link is to an asteroid impact calculator.
