The average length of a male tiger is 10 ft while a female is 8ft.  The average male lion is 8.5 ft long and a female is 7.5 ft long.  The length between the two species is reasonable comparable, especially with the females.  The difference is really found in the weight.  A male tiger outweighs a lion on a average of 120 lbs.  Once again the females of the two species are comparable in weight.

    Male Tiger: 10ft long 500lbs

Male Lion: 8.5 ft long 380lbs

Since the sizes of lions and tigers vary depending on each subspecies, I will use the most well-known tigers and lions to answer your question. An African lion is 4.5 to 6.5 feet long in its head and body (1.4 to 2 meters) and weighs from 265 to 420 pounds (120-191 kilograms). A Bengal tiger is 5 to 6 feet long in its head and body (1.5 to 1.8 meters) and weighs from 240 to 500 pounds (109 to 227 kilograms). These figures exclude the length of their tails. Judging from these statistics, lions and tigers are similar to one another in size.
