How big of a problem is shark fining?

Its a huge problem. The sharks are near the top of the food chain, controlling the populations of some fish species below them. Not only is fining cruel and inhumane its an entirely wasteful type of fishing. Every year tens of millions of sharks are hauled onto a boat where they cut off the fins and throw it back into the water. Without fins the shark can’t move and get oxygen to flow over its gills so it slowly dies. We NEED to end it as soon as possible.
