How big of a problem is poaching in Africa?

Poaching is a huge problem in Africa. The money inherent in poaching is an irresistable lure to its impoverished citizens, and the lack of government funding and resources concurrently makes it impossible for proper patrolling of protected parks. In July alone 26 white rhinos and one black rhino were taken by poachers just in South Africa, which along with Zimbabwe accounts for 95% of rhino poaching in Africa. Additionally, it is estimated that despite an ivory ban, an average of 104 elephants are poached every day.
