    The size of the mongoose depends on the specie, and there are 30 different species of mongoose.  They range from 1 to 4 feet (.30 to 1.2 m) in length and weigh as little as 10 oz (280 g) or as much as 9 pounds (4.1 kg).

    Mongooses are small mammals of the Herpestidae Family. They live in Africa, the Iberian Peninsula, and southern Asia. The dwarf mongoose is the smallest species and measures 7 inches long. The largest species, the Egyptian mongoose, is 2 feet. They weigh between 12 ounces and 11 pounds.
