How big of a forest would we have to plant to offset Americas carbon?

The Northern Forest, which consists of much of the forested northern areas of the U.S. and Canada, is more carbon-dense than any other ecosystem on Earth, and it still isn’t big enough. It’s quite possible that there simply isn’t enough acreage of land on the Earth’s surface for enough forest to offset that much carbon.
