How big do live oak trees get?

Live oak trees can reach a height of about 65 to 85 feet tall.  Their branches tend to spread out in all directions from the base, to they have a very wide, spreading shape overall.  When dry, a single cubic foot of live oak wood can weigh as much as 55 pounds – this makes it some of the heaviest wood of any tree.  The live oak is often considered one of the most attractive and charismatic tree species of the southeastern United States.
