If you’re going to make a compost pile you want it to be minimum 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet and maximum 5 feet by 5 feet by 5 feet. If it’s too small, it won’t heat up that fast and the rate of decomposition will be slowed down or hindered. If it’s too big, it may absorb too much water so air will only be able to penetrate part of it and you’ll end up with very smelly anaerobic compost. Also the bigger the pile the harder it is to turn.
