The biggest watermelon ever recorded was a Carolina cross that weighed 262 pounds. The typical weight range for this kind of watermelon is 65 to 150 pounds. The U.S. guidelines for watermelon shipping and production put the weight range of regular watermelons at 20-42 pounds.
I actually found that the biggest watermelon ever recorded was from Hope-Hempstead County, Arkansas weighing in at 268.8 pounds. It was certified by Guinness in the Spring of 2006 as the world’s largest watermelon.
