Male sand crabs typically are no more than 3/4 of an inch long. Females grow as large as 1.5 to 2 inches long, according to the first article below (originating from California). However, the second article cited, which measures sand crabs in Australia, shows that some sand crabs average 102.8 mm long, which is about 4 inches.
