How big can earth worms get?

It really depends on the type of earthworm (there are around 2700 different kinds) and on how much the worm has to eat.

Lumbricus terrestris, the common earthworm, usually only gets as big as 300 millimeters long.

The longest earthworm ever found (in South Africa) was an astounding 22 feet long.
