How big can coyotes get?

Mountain coyotes can grow to be 50 lbs, while coyotes in the desert are more frequently 20 lbs. Eastern coyotes are usually 48-60 inches in length. They are about twice the size of western, or desert, coyotes. Research has shown that the eastern coyote’s larger size is likely attributable to interbreeding with canadian wolves.
