    The body of an alligator lizard can reach up to 7.5 inches.  Its tail can be up to twice as long as its body!

    There are several different species of Alligator lizard. In the United States, they fall into two different genera, Elgaria and Gerrhonotus

    The largest species is the US is the Texas Alligator Lizard, Gerrhonotus infernalis. They can reach a length of up to 25 inches including tail if the tail is never broken.
