Many different types and sizes of tanks and ponds are used to raise farm fish including salmon. The first farm fish were raised in ponds built in 1650 in the Czech republic. These ponds are still in use today. Tanks can range from a few hundred cubic feet to many acres. A large problem with tanks is the overcrowding associated with raising farm fish. A 2 acre tank with 50,000 fish allows a size less than a bathtub for each fish causing a stress, disease and pollution in the water, no of which is good for the consumer.
