Each lung is between 10-12 inches long. The surface area of the lungs is actually bigger than the surface area of the skin.

There are variations between humans, but on average the right lung weighs about 625 grams and the left lung weighs about 567 grams (it is smaller because of the heart). Weight variances are due to the amount of blood or fluid that is in the lung. Males have heavier lungs than females; weight proportionally to the weight of the rest of the body is 1:37 in males, and 1:42 in females.
