How big are blue whales?

    Blue whales are the largest animal in the world.  They can weigh up to 200 tons and grow to be as long as 100 ft.  They can eat 4 to 8 tons of food (krill) a day.

    Big! They can grow to be over 100 feet long, and can weigh over 200 tons. They are built kind of strange, the length of their head is 25 percent of the total body length. Females will grow to be bigger than the males.

    The blue whale is usually around 80 feet in length and weighs in at around 120 tons.  To get an idea of how big a blue whale is, its heart is about the size of a Volkswagen bug.
