It’s difficult to say, it depends on the variety of solar farm being created. There is a 80MW farm scheduled to be built in Southern California that will be about 640 acres; that is a ratio of 8 acres for every 1MW of energy. If that ratio holds true then a 100MW farm would need 800 acres. First Solar, an American solar company, has been contracted to build a 100MW farm in France, but there are no specifics as to it’s size. The First Solar farm uses ultra-thin solar panels, so it is likely to take less space than the estimated 800 acres, but still more than 640 acres.
Other than solar panels, there are also “Solar Tower” designs, that could be made more space efficient. You can see one in Spain here: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/04/worlds-largest-solar-power-tower-spain.php
