Pretty bad. Four people are dead, and state of emergency has been declared. They are currently using Gypsum to neutralize the spill as it flows into the nearby river.

The sludge is composed of heavy metals, including lead.  This is highly toxic to people and very harmful to the environment. It is flowing into the Danube river which provides drinking water to about 10 million people.
