The jaguar conservation movement has really picked up steam in the past decade or two. Because the animals need a lot of forested land to hunt enough food in, the main method of jaguar conservation is to preserve rainforest.
The main reason for the decline in the jaguar population is due to clear-cut farming practices. In order to protect the jaguars, various reserves have been set up around the world where hunting and farming are prohibited. Although, some friendly farmers have given up a portion of their land for jaguars to live their. Jaguar protection groups work on environmental education, as the jaguar is a good indicator of the success of an ecosystem. Reforestation is also a major goal for these groups.
