How are we currently recycling tires?

Most states have adopted tire recycling regulations, and most communities have tire drop-off centers. Big O and Firestone stores have drop-off sites at most of their locations. U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Services has developed a new technology for extracting pulverized rubber and polyester/nylon mixture, leaving them as two different materials. Recycled tires are made into new tires, truck bed liners, running tracks, carpet backing, brake pads and shoes, asphalt, water hoses, floor mats, and shredded chips for landscaping or playgrounds.
