The EPA has a handy guide for reducing air pollution. This includes conserving energy by turning off appliances when they are not in use, recycling, keeping woodstoves well maintained and not trying to warm/cool homes without the use of air conditioning or electric heating. Biking, walking or taking public transportation can help, and keeping vehicles in good running condition is important as well.
Actions to reduce air pollution are similar to stopping global warming and helping the environment. For instance, biking or using electric/fuel-efficient cars are preferred over gasoline-based cars. Using less electricity in anyway (shorter showers, turning off the light, using less of the heater/AC when not necessary).
