How are renewable resources being used to replace non renewable resources?

Renewable resources are most commonly being used to replace non renewable resources in the energy sector. While coal has long been the leading source of electric energy in the United States, its burning for the creation of energy releases huge amounts of harmful emissions and depletes a finite source of fuel. Utilizing sources such as the wind and sun instead for energy has the potential to conserve these natural resources while reducing pollution.
