Plants adapt to extreme temperatures in many ways:
xerophytes are plants that have changed their physical structure, such as cacti, to store more water, and typically have no leaves (or very little leaves) to avoid transpiration.
Phreatophytes: are plants that have adapted to grow very long roots to aquire moisture closer to the water table
Perennials and Annuals: are plants that have developed a behvaioral survival pattern in conformance to the seasons of greatest moisture and/or coolest temperatures.
