I know that Tesla, the company that manufactures the electric powered Roadster, is starting to recycle its car batteries. In Europe, the company will refine its batteries’ innards with cobalt and nickel. Additionally, GM and Nissan are researching what to do with their used car batteries. They may refit them to use them as hospital backup generators. Pretty cool.
Toyota and GM offer guides for recycling batteries that have reached the end of their life. Toyota also offers a $200 bounty to make sure that the battery is recycled. Toyota, GM, Ford, and Honda also all offer dismantling guides for auto salvaging and emergency response guides.
