How are wind farms working to protect wildlife?

One of the biggest concerns of wind farms are bat populations. They become depressurized in the vacuum created by the blades causing them to immediately perish. A plan is in place to study how to reduce their mortality. In addition the companies have considered shutting off the windmills during times of high bat activity such as night or twilight. This would reduce the amount of money they make at the bottom line, per year, by about 1%.
